Coffee and Poppy Card

Poppy Coffee Card
Hi friends have you ever jumped to buy something and then let it sit for months without using it? Well in my case I bought this beautiful Poppy Stamps "Iceland Poppy"flower die set  nearly a year ago and this is the first time I am using it!
Coffee and Poppy Card
The fun thing about this die is that you can make a dimensional yet flat flower[hehe that is a contradiction of sorts but I think my crafty friends will know what I mean!]! I diecut the petals in thick kraft paper and dotted pattern paper and glued the pattern paper diecuts on the kraft diecuts offsetting a little to get a cool margin.
Coffee and Poppy Card
I am so glad I hoarded this cute cup with a heart  charm as it goes perfectly with the sentiment I used " warm hearts"!
The woodgrain background was created using a gorgeous stamp from Winnie and Walter. The copper spoon is another craft item I had been hoarding and waiting to use on the right project!
Coffee and Poppy Card
I hope you are not too bored of seeing all the cute teacups in my recent posts! In this one I used gorgeous coffee colored glitter foam to make the cup !

Altered Penstand

Altered Penstand
Hi friends sharing one more fall themed project which I made for my craft table. Recycling makes me feel good and it was heartening  to give new life to a broken old nut cutter!
Recycling Craft
My favorite way to use pretty paper is to make 3 d projects for the home and I used gorgeous Graphic 45 papers to line the inside and outside of this multipurpose holder.
Altered Penstand
The  cups  were made using an Elizabeth Craft Designs Teacup die set on foam , gold metallic paper and Graphic 45 Papers
Altered Penstand
I couldn't resist adding a smiley flower !

All the flowers on this project were made using  punches and dies . The filler flowers are my current favorite and were cut with Elizabeth Craft Designs dies.

Fall Themed Organizer Box

Fall Themed Organizer Box
Hi friends, though we dont officially have a fall season here in India I love fall themed projects. I just love the bright orange !I dressed up an MDF box for my craft room using lovely Graphic 45 papers and cute teacups
Fall Themed Organizer Box
When I first started paper crafting  cute smiley faced punch craft projects made with Peachy Keen stamps where very popular! I couldn't get the stamps in India but loved them so much that I braved ordering directly from the company only to have the parcel lost .
So you can imagine my delight when a couple of months back I could buy my first Peachy Keen face stamps from a crafter here in India who was de-stashing her supplies.
Happy Sunflowers
One's crafty first love is indeed unforgettable, sweet and thrilling !! Am I so in love with these adorable faces!! What do you say friends...Did you have a first love in crafting?
Fall Themed Organizer Box
I made the happy faced flowers using the Peachy Keen stamps on die cut circles and centering them on sunflowers die cut on Graphic 45 papers.
Fall Themed Organizer Box

The cups were made using an Elizabeth Craft designs die set and has 4 layers- foam, craft paper, metallic gold paper and Graphic 45 patterned paper.

Fall Themed Organizer Box
This happy flower is maybe not a flower...my daughter calls it a doggy flower as I used a puppy face on it!! Hehe...anything goes in love and crafts isn't it!!

Fall Themed Organizer Box
Each side of the box has a teacup and a happy flower on gorgeous Graphic 45 paper!
Fall Themed Organizer Box
Since the box is made of wood it is quite sturdy to hold even my Sizzix heavy duty BigZ dies. This particular box resides on my craft table and holds all the dies I am currently working with!

I hope you enjoyed this project.

DIY Remote Holder Tutorial

DIY Remote Holder
Hi friends have you ever had to solve "The case of the Missing Remote" ? Hehe it is such a frequent occurrence in my home with each family member ending up playing detective and the hunt at times  lasting excruciating hours!
DIY Remote Holder Tutorial
After one last episode of having to go excavating under the cushions and crawling on the floor in search of an elusive remote.... I decided enough was enough!
And here is How to make a Remote  / General purpose Holder!!

Materials Required

  • Cardboard or Chipboard - I recycled old desktop calendars !
  • Pattern Paper-Use good quality pattern paper
  • Strips of Card stock 1 inch wide - to join the cardboard pieces
  • Liquid Adhesive-more reliable than tapes and glue gun
  • Thick Foam- to form the base and line the inside
  • Decoupage Glue- Mod Podge

I measured the height of our tallest remote and the width and worked out a design.
DIY Remote Holder Tutorial
The picture above shows the shapes of the cardboard pieces and their dimensions. The exact dimensions will actually depend on the thickness of the cardboard/chipboard pieces you are using.
If you want to make a really sturdy project....use double layers of cardboard/chipboard on the front and back .
DIY Remote Holder Tutorial
If you want to create a functional and sturdy 3 D paper craft project the best way to glue the parts is to use strips of card stock with liquid adhesive. If the climate in your country fluctuates widely , red tacky tape and hot glue [from the glue gun] are not reliable.
DIY Remote Holder Tutorial
After sticking the outer parts...decide the position of the inner dividers. I have spaced the inside at 1 and 3/4th inch apart so that there is enough room and the remote can rest comfortably at a slant and be easily removed and put back.
DIY Remote Holder Tutorial
Line the inner walls with pattern paper and add a piece of thick foam on the outer and inner parts of the base . The inner foam lining will help to form a soft cushion for the remotes to rest on .I added a piece of foam on the outside base too as foam is waterproof and will help the remote holder to withstand the inevitable spillages on our table!
DIY Remote Holder
Cover the dividers with pattern paper too and stick inside onto the foam base and pattern paper lined walls. Since you are not using card stock strips to help adhere the pieces but applying glue directly to the edges, you have to be a bit patient and hold the pieces in place as the wet glue dries.
DIY Remote Holder
To make the project durable, add a nice coat of a sealant decoupage glue such as Mod podge.
DIY Remote Holder
Since this is going to be a functional project subject to everyday rough handling, don't add embellishments but use it as a chance to showcase the prettiest papers you have ...which in my case are the fabulous papers from Graphic 45 Nature Sketch book
DIY Remote Holder
So how do you like this functional project my friends...?
And you may be wondering....has that solved the issue of our remotes going amiss..?Well the remotes seem to like their new home better than the dark recesses under the sofa and only wander off occasionally when they feel they have to give myself or my hubby some exercise !!

Teacher's Day Gifts with Crealies

Bird House Tea Light Holders
Hi friends, Teacher's Day is celebrated on September 5th in India and my daughter and I love to use this chance to give small tokens of appreciation to her teachers . Over the years we have  made Photo-frames, Pen Stands, Post it Note Holders, Paper Purses and Mini Albums[Here are the projects: Teacher's Day Gifts]
Paper-craft Bird Houses
This year I was struggling for ideas and thought only a card will have to do when a wonderful parcel containing fantastic dies from Crealies arrived all the way from Netherlands !
Crealies Dies from Netherlands
My regular readers will know I love working with dies and when Annelies from Crealies  contacted me some weeks earlier asking me if I would like to work with her dies I literally jumped at the chance as I loved her die designs!!
The gorgeous Create a Box Bird house set gave me the idea to make Tea Light Holders!
Teacher's Day Gifts- Paper House Tea Light Holders
I had to make 9 Tea Light Holders as my daughter has 9 teachers this year and as all are ladies I went with a feminine Shabby Chic theme!
Paper House Tea light Holder
I wanted the frame work to be sturdy and so used the base die to cut thick kraft card stock.
Crealies Create a Box -Birdhouse Die Set
I loved that the die set was cleverly designed and contained extra dies to cut all the decorative panels !
Paper House
I used pretty papers from Papericious which I distressed with Abandoned Coral Distress Inks to line the panels of the Bird house.
Crealies Decorette XL-Quatrefoil Die
So in love with Quatrefoil die...such an intricate design and it cut so beautifully! I loved it so much that I used it to decorate the walls and cut small strips to form decorative borders!
Paper House
The original design is meant to open at the base of the house but I modified it to have a side door and attached a brass "door knob"
Adding Door Knobs
Also attached magnets on the door and back of the house so that the door would be securely closed.
Adding Magnetic Closure
The ruffled pink polka dotted ribbon and lattice roof [made using a Wild Rose Studio Floral Frame die] helped complete the "Shabby Chic" look!

Here is how the tea light fits inside the "Bird House"!!

The birds in the die set are mirror images which is  super cool as you can easily make birds facing either direction !

Love how the bird dies embossed even without using an extra embossing pad!

Feathers are quite the fashion in the crafting world but I have never had a die to make such delicate beautiful feathers so this  Crealies die was especially delightful!
Crealies Double Fun-Feathers Die Set
I used the die to cut feathers from matching pattern paper.
Paper Feathers
And tweaked the die cut to keep the central feather element!
Paper Feathers
This Tea Light holder all lighted up looked so pretty in our garden!

It was so much fun designing the 9 bird houses differently while still keeping to a theme!
